The Teatro Real presents The Fairy Queen, Henry Purcell's magical semi-opera, in a semi-staged concert version. This work, by the man considered to be the greatest English composer of Baroque music, was inspired by Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. It returns to the Teatro Real with the acclaimed choral group Vox Luminis.

Synopsis and more information
The opera is based on the dream of a person who involves the audience in their experience. In it, Titania, queen of the fairies, also undergoes a change in her life due to dreaming. The action takes place in an enchanted forest dominated by the Moon and inhabited by fantasy creatures like fairies, elves, goblins, and nymphs. They seek universal harmony but see their magical world suddenly in danger. After the triumph of love and sanity, the original order returns and the cosmos is restored.
